For the first time Sunderland Astronomical Society staged a Spring Star Camp at Kielder Campsite.
Nearly 60 pitches were taken, with about 100 people attending for as far afield as Kent, Bristol and Norfolk. Two cloudy nights were followed by a spanking final session, with clear skies from dusk to dawn.
There were memorable views of Comet 73P Schwassmann-Wachmann and a host of galaxies. By the wee small hours the temperature had dipped to minus two, but regular adjournments to the warm room kept folks going.
