REDLIGHT

Please note this is a red light event.  The sky at Kielder is very dark and many observers come to spy dim objects millions--or even billions--of light years away.  Stray white light from torches, caravans or car vanity lights can destroy dark adaption in an instant and ruin an imaging session.  Please see our red light rules and come suitably equipped.

Bookings Now Open!  The 7th Kielder Forest Star Camp takes place from 14 to 19 October in the remote and spectacular Borders.

The event is being staged by the Kielder Observatory Astronomical Society at Kielder Campsite, offering five night's under what the CPRE say is the darkest sky in England.

Whether you are a veteran or novice, the welcome will be equally friendly.  All you need to do to join us is follow our red light rules and enjoy a unique experience in the last great wilderness of England.

The main day is on Saturday 17 October at nearby Kielder Castle.  There'll be vendors and talks--all totally free.  We'll also offer you the chance to join observing sessions at our new £480,000 observatory located at an altitude of 1250 feet overlooking Kielder.

Pitches are limited so please act now if you want to take part.
Previous years have been oversubscribed.  We have an online booking form you can use.  Dark and clear skies!
